## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the bill. Quote the text, not the summary.

House Bill 572 amends the Town of Braselton's charter to annex a specific list of Barrow County properties into the town's official boundaries.

### Plain-language summary

The Town of Braselton operates under a charter that was originally created by the Georgia General Assembly in 2003 (Ga. L. 2003, p. 4319). That charter defines the town's corporate limits, meaning which land officially falls within town boundaries.
This bill adds a new subsection to Section 1.11 of the charter, listing specific parcels of land in Barrow County by their tax assessor parcel ID numbers. Once the bill takes effect, those parcels become part of the Town of Braselton. The bill also repeals any existing laws that conflict with this change. No other provisions of the charter are altered.

### What it does

- Amends Section 1.11 of the Town of Braselton's charter to add a list of specific Barrow County parcels to the town's corporate limits.
- Identifies the annexed properties by their Barrow County Board of Tax Assessors parcel ID numbers as of the bill's effective date.
- Repeals any prior laws or parts of laws that conflict with this annexation.

### Who it affects

Property owners of the specifically listed Barrow County parcels, who would become residents or landowners within the Town of Braselton; the Town of Braselton government, which gains additional land and residents; and Barrow County, whose tax assessor records define the affected parcels.

### Why it matters

Property owners on the listed parcels would become subject to Braselton's town government, services, taxes, and ordinances instead of remaining solely under Barrow County jurisdiction. This changes municipal boundaries and could affect zoning, services, and local tax obligations for those specific properties.

### Key provisions

- Section 1 adds a new subsection (d) to Section 1.11 of the Town of Braselton's charter, listing thirteen specific Barrow County parcel IDs to be included in the town's corporate limits.
- The parcels are defined based on Barrow County Board of Tax Assessors records as they exist on the bill's effective date.
- Section 2 repeals any conflicting laws, a standard provision ensuring this annexation supersedes prior inconsistent statutes.
