A RESOLUTION

Honoring the life, legacy, and service of Dr. Tammi Lamar-Blackwood; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Dr. Tammi Lamar-Blackwood was born on January 2, 1971, in Macon, Georgia, to Booker T. Lamar and the late Dorothy Allen Lamar, and she remained a beloved daughter, wife, family member, friend, and community servant throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, she departed this life on November 28, 2025, leaving her family, church, and community with profound sorrow and a deep sense of loss; and

WHEREAS, she was united in marriage to Dr. Kimathi Blackwood on September 20, 2014, and shared her life with a devoted family, including her brother, Keith A. Lamar Sr. of Conyers, Georgia; her nephew, Keith A. Lamar Jr., Esq., and his wife, Adrienne Thomas Lamar, of Mableton, Georgia; her aunt, Dorothy Card; and a host of cousins and extended relatives who cherished her dearly; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Lamar-Blackwood was a faithful lifelong member of St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church in Macon, Georgia, where she served diligently on the Steward Board, sang in the St. Paul Choir, contributed to the Christian Education Department, supported the First-Aid Committee, and volunteered joyfully with any ministry in need; and

WHEREAS, she received her early education at Mount de Sales Academy, graduating in the Class of 1989, and continued her academic pursuits at Wesleyan College and the University of Georgia before earning her Doctor of Pharmacy from Florida A&M University College of Pharmacy in 1996; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Lamar-Blackwood began her distinguished career as a pharmacy intern at Revco Pharmacy (now CVS Health), later serving patients across Middle Georgia and surrounding counties for 29 years at Revco, CVS, Kroger, and Regency Hospital; and

WHEREAS, throughout her professional journey, she excelled as a board-certified community and clinical pharmacist, fulfilling roles as floating pharmacist, staff pharmacist, and pharmacy manager, consistently demonstrating compassion, precision, and unwavering dedication to patient care; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Lamar-Blackwood was a proud and engaged member of numerous organizations, including Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Epsilon Omega Omega Chapter—initiated March 8, 1998, and recognized as a Silver Star Soror; contributed meaningfully to the Federated Women of America (now the General Federation of Women's Clubs) and The Links, Incorporated, Macon Chapter; and served as Black K.A.R.E. Chair (Kidney Awareness Resources Education); and

WHEREAS, she further extended her leadership and service through involvement in the Middle Georgia Chapter of the FAMU Alumni Association, Unrestricted Praise Gospel Choir, Macon-Middle Georgia Minority Pharmacists, the Georgia Pharmacy Association, the Golden Girls Prayer Group, several community prayer circles, and the Belvedere Manor-Weaver Heights Neighborhood Association; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Lamar-Blackwood lived a life of purpose, faith, sisterhood, and service, leaving a powerful legacy that continues to inspire all who knew her; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments, community impact, and cherished memory of this remarkable Georgian be recognized and honored by this body.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body honor the life of Dr. Tammi Lamar-Blackwood; extend heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, church family, and community; and express profound gratitude for her decades of professional excellence and steadfast commitment to service. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the family of Dr. Tammi Lamar-Blackwood.
