A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Deetra Poindexter upon being named The Georgia Association of Conservation Districts’ 2025 Supervisor of the Year; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, The Georgia Association of Conservation Districts (GACD) held their annual Hall of Fame Banquet on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, honoring and awarding individuals who have gone above and beyond to further conservation efforts for our state; and

WHEREAS, this year, Deetra Poindexter, District Supervisor for the Clayton County Conservation District, was named the 2025 Supervisor of the Year; and

WHEREAS, this prestigious award recognizes her exemplary achievements, leadership, and service to GACD and local communities; and

WHEREAS, Deetra Poindexter's passion for getting youth involved with their community, and the source of their food production, is evidenced dramatically through her commitment to attending various school events including college and career fairs, STEM nights, and agriculture field days, as well as her vital role in the district's education and outreach programs; and

WHEREAS, additionally, Deetra Poindexter diligently ensures students and educators are aware of programs, such as the Natural Resource Conservation Workshop; passionately teaches students about soil and water conservation in Clayton County; and is instrumental in promoting and coordinating the annual poster contest; and

WHEREAS, initiatives planned and hosted by Deetra Poindexter, such as the “All Growers Meet and Greet,” where she helped build relationships between community gardeners, local restaurant owners, and farmers; the annual local Wetlands Festival; and her various other community events, have left a significant impact on Clayton County and the State of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkable individual be appropriately honored.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend Deetra Poindexter, congratulate her upon being named The Georgia Association of Conservation Districts’ 2025 Supervisor of the Year, and extend their best wishes for her continued health, happiness, and success. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Deetra Poindexter.
