House Resolution 1009 By: Representatives Cannon of the 172nd and Ford of the 170th A RESOLUTION Honoring the life of Mr. John L. Williams and dedicating an interchange in his memory; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, Mr. John L. Williams has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital role that he played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and WHEREAS, Mr. Williams diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community and state as evidenced dramatically by his work as an entrepreneur in Cook County, Georgia; and WHEREAS, Mr. Williams' significant organizational and leadership talents, his remarkable patience and diplomacy, his keen sense of vision, and his sensitivity to the needs of the citizens of this state earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and associates; and WHEREAS, he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkable and distinguished Georgian be recognized appropriately by dedicating an interchange in his memory. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that the interchange of State Route 401/Interstate 75 and State Route 37 in Cook County is dedicated as the John L. Williams Memorial Interchange. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation is authorized and directed to erect and maintain appropriate signs dedicating the John L. Williams Memorial Interchange. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the family of Mr. John L. Williams and to the Department of Transportation.
