A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and congratulating Sheriff Ron Freeman; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Sheriff Ron Freeman has served with honor and distinction as the sheriff of the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office since his election in 2016, and he has recently been named Sheriff of the Year by the Georgia Sheriff's Association; and
WHEREAS, in addition to his role as sheriff, he is the currently serving as second vice president of the Georgia Sheriff's Association and as an appointed board member and past chair of the Georgia Criminal Justice Coordinating Council; and
WHEREAS, his exemplary career upholds his family's longstanding history in law enforcement, a legacy that spans more than 130 years of combined service across him, his father, and his uncles; and
WHEREAS, Sheriff Freeman's efficient and effective commitment to excellence has been recognized by his peers through the many decorations and awards he has received, including a Medal of Valor, a Medal of Merit, and the Sheriff's Commendation Award; and
WHEREAS, his inspiring commitment to the welfare of others is an outstanding example of the positive effect law enforcement professionals have on the lives and well-being of others; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that gratitude is expressed for the unique and often unheralded contributions of local law enforcement professionals on behalf of the citizens of this state.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and congratulate Sheriff Ron Freeman upon being named Sheriff of the Year by the Georgia Sheriff's Association and express their upmost appreciation for his years of dedicated service.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Sheriff Ron Freeman.
