WHEREAS, Lucille McMullen was born on January 18, 1921 in Jasper, Georgia, and this year she enjoys the rare distinction of celebrating her 105th birthday; and WHEREAS, this distinguished gentlewoman has given inspiration to many through her high ideals, morals, and deep concern for her fellow citizens; and WHEREAS, for the duration of World War II, Lucille McMullen selfless served as a nurse with the United States Army, valiantly and courageously serving her country and caring for her fellow Americans; and WHEREAS, Lucille McMullen, fondly known as “Miss Lucille,” possesses the vast wisdom which only comes through experience and the strength of character which is achieved through overcoming the many challenges of life; and WHEREAS, a proud member of American Legion Post 149, she has spent her life devoted to supporting veterans; and WHEREAS, she is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for strength, integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and WHEREAS, a kind and generous person, Lucille McMullen brings joy and happiness to American Legion Post 149, her family, and to the many friends and neighbors who have the great pleasure of knowing her; and WHEREAS, she has witnessed a dramatic change in the world over the course of her lifetime and we salute her contribution to its progress by her own hard work and good citizenship; and WHEREAS, by the example Lucille McMullen has made of her life, she makes this world a better place in which to live, and it is only fitting and proper that she be appropriately recognized during this very special and memorable time. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Lucille McMullen for her unselfish, dedicated, and loving service to the members of her family and country, congratulate her on the remarkable occasion of her 105th birthday, and extend their most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.
