House Resolution 1028 By: Representatives Carter of the 93rd, Bazemore of the 69th, Scott of the 76th, Hugley of the 141st, and Mitchell of the 88th A RESOLUTION Commending and recognizing Dr. Foluso A. Fakorede by the House of Representatives; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, Dr. Foluso A. Fakorede has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community and country as evidenced dramatically by his superlative service as a physician, community leader, and tireless advocate for rural and underserved communities; and WHEREAS, Dr. Fakorede, the Chief Executive Officer at Cardiovascular Solutions of Central Mississippi, is unwaveringly committed to providing timely, high-quality cardiovascular care and educating communities to reduce preventable amputations; and WHEREAS, he is a nationally recognized leader in raising awareness about peripheral artery disease (PAD) and the amputation epidemic; his passionate advocacy has lead to an 88 percent reduction in amputations over four years; and WHEREAS, Dr. Fakorede was instrumental in introducing the bipartisan Amputation Reduction and Compassion (ARC) Act, which led to the creation of the inaugural Congressional PAD Caucus; and WHEREAS, Dr. Fakorede serves on the Board of Directors for the Amputee Coalition and is the PAD initiative chair for the Association of Black Cardiologists; and WHEREAS, he has contributed to several influential bodies including the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, the American Heart Association PAD National Action Plan, and the Society for Interventional Radiology; and WHEREAS, his groundbreaking work has been recognized with the American Heart Association’s 2023 Louis B. Russell Award, the Association of Black Cardiologists’ 2024 Public Policy Award, and inclusion in the 2024 STAT News STATUS List, which honors the most impactful leaders in health, medicine, and science; and WHEREAS, in 2024, Dr. Fakorede was the subject of the award-winning documentary Bloodlines, Mississippi and the Nobel Prize Foundation’s exhibition Fighting Disease– Three Stories From the Fields of Medicine; and WHEREAS, the documentary highlights Dr. Fakorede’s revolutionary work combating diabetes-related amputations in the Mississippi Delta’s undeserved communities; and WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper to recognize the outstanding accomplishments of this distinguished physician, advocate, and community leader. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend Dr. Foluso A. Fakorede for his efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service; and extend the most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Dr. Foluso A. Fakorede.
