A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Teresa LaBarham Mitchell; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Teresa LaBarham Mitchell is an entrepreneur and artistic director with over 40
years of experience in performance, artist development, and ministry leadership; and
WHEREAS, Teresa LaBarham Mitchell began her illustrious career in music in 1970 while
living in Atlanta, Georgia; and
WHEREAS, through hard work, perseverance, and determination her career would grow,
giving her opportunities to sing background vocals for the Legendary Temptations, as well
as performing on stage with prestigious artists including Stevie Wonder, Roberta Flack, Tony
Bennett, and Harry Belefonte; and
WHEREAS, a life-long leader, Teresa blends creative excellence with compassionate
mentorship and guided direction as the co-owner and artistic director of Mitchell’s Academy
of Music and the founder and producer of T-Music Productions; and
WHEREAS, located in Perry, Georgia, Mitchell’s Academy of Music, Performing Arts
Centre, is a long standing music education and performing arts centre that hosts concerts,
student recitals, and various music and vocal courses; and
WHEREAS, under her guiding hand as founder and her exceptional instruction as a vocal
coach, Mitchell’s Academy of Music has developed a reputation for renown; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkable Georgian be
appropriately honored.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
the members of this body recognize and commend Teresa LaBarham Mitchell for her
commitment to cultivating talent and inspiring transformation as well as extend sincere best
wishes for her continued health, happiness, and success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to
Teresa LaBarham Mitchell.
