By: Representatives Hugley of the 141st, Reese of the 140th, and Kendrick of the 95th
A RESOLUTION
Congratulating Carolyn Wright upon her induction into the Chattahoochee Valley Sports
Hall of Fame; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Carolyn Wright is a proud graduate of Alabama State University, where she
distinguished herself as a member of the volleyball, track, and cheerleading programs; and
WHEREAS, following her time as a student athlete, Carolyn Wright continued to pursue her
passion for education and athletics as a teacher and coach at McIntyre Junior High in
Montgomery, Alabama, and later at Central High School in Phenix City, Georgia; and
WHEREAS, during her revolutionary 32-year career at Central High School, Carolyn
Wright, serving as head track coach from 1991-2011 and head volleyball coach from
2002-2018, amassed an outstanding record of 593-375, winning 11 area tiles, 4 regional titles
and making four Final Four appearances; and
WHEREAS, further highlighting her passion and dedication to the sport she founded the
Mary Jane Riley Volleyball Tournament in 2015; and
WHEREAS, throughout her career she demonstrated an unwavering commitment to
excellence, mentorship, and student development both in the classroom and through athletic
competition; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper to recognize the service, sports leadership,
and dedication to student athletes demonstrated by Carolyn Wright.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
the members of this congratulate Carolyn Wright upon her induction into the Chattahoochee
Valley Sports Hall of Fame and extend best wishes for continued health, happiness, and
success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to
Carolyn Wright.
