A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Shirley Diamond; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Shirley Diamond is a talented and versatile rhythm and blues, jazz, rock, and gospel singer from Atlanta, Georgia; and
WHEREAS, her enlightening, high-spirited voice has captured listeners of her studio recordings as well as audiences at prestigious Atlanta venues such as the Tabernacle and Underground Atlanta; and
WHEREAS, following in the footsteps of artists such as Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Chaka Chan, Ray Charles, and Ella Fitzgerald, Shirley Diamond has forged her own path and built a name for herself in Atlanta’s vibrant music scene as well on tour with various artists; and
WHEREAS, Shirley Diamond’s music reflects not only her talent, but also the dedication, resilience, and creative passion she brings to everything she does; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this distinguished Georgian be appropriately honored.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend Shirley Diamond for her countless contributions to music and arts in the State of Georgia and extend best wishes for her continued health, happiness, and success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Shirley Diamond.
