## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A Georgia House resolution formally commends Major Craig Dodson of the Carroll County Sheriff's Department for 35 years of law enforcement service in the state.

### Plain-language summary

This is a ceremonial resolution from the Georgia House of Representatives, not a change to state law. It recognizes Major Craig Dodson for his 35 years with the Carroll County Sheriff's Department, describing his career from K-9 and Special Operations work through his 2003 promotion to Major overseeing Patrol, the Criminal Investigation Division, Court Services, and Training.
The resolution also highlights his current role as Director of the Carroll County Sheriff's Office of Emergency Management and his involvement with the Emergency Shelter Board, the CASA Board, fraud prevention programs, and school safety initiatives. It directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to prepare a copy of the resolution for distribution to Major Dodson as a keepsake of the honor.

### What it does

- Formally recognizes and commends Major Craig Dodson for 35 years of service with the Carroll County Sheriff's Department.
- Congratulates him on his career milestones, including his 2003 promotion to Major and his oversight of Patrol, CID, Court Services, and Training.
- Directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to prepare and distribute an official copy of the resolution to Major Dodson.
- Creates no new law, funding, or regulatory requirement; it is a ceremonial statement by the House.

### Who it affects

The resolution directly names Major Craig Dodson and the Carroll County Sheriff's Department. It has no regulatory effect on other Georgians, agencies, or law enforcement statewide beyond this individual recognition.

### Why it matters

The resolution carries no legal or financial effect and changes nothing in Georgia law. Its significance is symbolic: it puts the House of Representatives' formal appreciation for a specific local law enforcement officer's decades of service on the public record.

### Key provisions

- The whereas clauses recount Major Dodson's 35-year career with the Carroll County Sheriff's Department, including K-9, Special Operations, Patrol, and his 2003 promotion to Major.
- The resolved clause formally commends Dodson and extends best wishes for his continued health, happiness, and success.
- A further resolved clause directs the Clerk of the House to make a copy available for distribution to Major Dodson.
