A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending John Davis upon 32 years of dedicated service to the City of Norcross and the State of Georgia; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia is honored to pay tribute to John Davis, who personifies the true meaning of a “Public Servant” and whose compassion and genuine commitment to the City of Norcross Georgia and its citizens is a source of inspiration to everyone; and

WHEREAS, John moved to Norcross, Georgia, in 1991, and began his career in government in 1992 as an Equipment Operator; and

WHEREAS, known for his hard work, dedication, and initiative, he quickly advanced in promotions, retiring as the Superintendent of Public Works, culminating a 32-year exceptional career; and

WHEREAS, John advanced his career to accumulate an impressive list of honors including Employee of the Year, obtaining American Public Works Association Certified Manager and Georgia Department of Transportation program certifications, and receiving multiple other awards and recognition for sustained, outstanding performance; and

WHEREAS, John was not only a public servant in city government, but he was also a resident of Norcross, Georgia; and

WHEREAS, he was always available and willing to go above and beyond for any task; he was known as the man who got things done; and

WHEREAS, John was involved in his community both as a government leader and a concerned citizen as well as a mentor and trusted advisor; and

WHEREAS, John always put the greater good of the community ahead of personal consideration, and earned the affection of his fellow public servants who are proud to call him a friend and the admiration of those with whom he came into contact; and

WHEREAS, John is unique in his sensitivity for doing what is best for the entire community, and he has worked constantly for the betterment of efficient, reliable, and resilient infrastructure that supports the community's needs and enhances quality of life for all residents; and

WHEREAS, through all these various endeavors, he has won the highest regard of all his associates and the admiration of citizens throughout the community; it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkable public servant be appropriately honored.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend John Davis for his many outstanding contributions on behalf of the citizens of this state as well as extend best wishes for his continued success.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to John Davis.
