A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending the Carroll County Superior Courts; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Carroll County Superior Courts have consistently demonstrated excellence in the administration of justice, fairness of proceedings, and efficient and timely processing of cases; and

WHEREAS, the Administrative Office of the Courts recently conducted a statewide analysis of how efficiently Superior Courts dispose of cases, and Carroll County ranked among the best in Georgia; and

WHEREAS, the Carroll County Superior Court cleared cases at an impressive rate of 114.11 percent, placing Carroll County at the top statewide in efficiency and timely access to justice; and

WHEREAS, in addition to the courts’ outstanding efficiency rankings, Judge Hightower's Drug Court was just named a Model Court, Judge Blackmon is leading a county-wide initiative on school attendance, Child Support Recovery is ranked number one among 56 districts statewide, and in less than one year their Veterans Treatment Court has grown to become the second largest in the state; and

WHEREAS, the Carroll County Superior Courts are dedicated to continued growth and improvement through new and innovative initiatives including a collaboration with the University of Georgia’s Carl Vinson Institute and the Emory Healthcare Veterans Program; and

WHEREAS, the Carroll County Superior Courts have set a standard of excellence for courts across the state of Georgia, making it abundantly proper to recognize the outstanding leadership, innovation, and dedication of the judges and court partners that have ensured justice in Carroll County is both fair and efficient.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend the judges, employees, and community partners of the Carroll County Superior Courts.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Carroll County Superior Courts.
