By: Representatives Smith of the 70th, Jenkins of the 136th, Bonner of the 73rd, Dawson of the
65th, and Glaize of the 67th
A RESOLUTION
Congratulating and commending Sprayberry’s Bar-B-Q upon the occasion of its 100th
anniversary; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Sprayberry’s Bar-B-Q, in Coweta County, Georgia, will be celebrating the
100th anniversary of its founding; and
WHEREAS, Sprayberry’s is more than just a place to eat, the beloved restaurant serves as
a community gathering spot, family tradition, and consistent landmark in a town that has
been steadily growing and changing around it; and
WHEREAS, founded in 1926 by Hudson Sprayberry, at just 23 years old, Sprayberry’s Bar-
B-Q has remained in the same location since opening; and
WHEREAS, through the past century, Sprayberry’s Bar-B-Q has grown, drawing customers
stopping in along Highway 29 and serving United States Military convoys through World
War II; and
WHEREAS, its reputation has also drawn well-known figures including Vice President Dan
Quayle, Price Philip, country music star Alan Jackson—who previously worked at the
restaurant, and Atlanta Braves player Dale Murphy; and
WHEREAS, in 2021, following 95 years of family ownership, the Sprayberry family retired,
entrusting Sprayberry’s Bar-B-Q to Jay Rogers, a lifetime employee of the restaurant; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the monumental anniversary of
Sprayberry’s Bar-B-Q be recognized.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
the members of this body congratulate Sprayberry’s Bar-B-Q on100 years of dedicated
service, commend it for its many outstanding contributions on behalf of the citizens of
Georgia, and extend best wishes for its continued growth, development, and success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to
Sprayberry’s Bar-B-Q.
