House Resolution 1112 By: Representatives Scott of the 76th, Davis of the 87th, and Schofield of the 63rd A RESOLUTION Urging statewide support for the "Georgia Menstrual Equity Act of 2026," an act promoting equitable access to menstrual products to reduce period poverty, improve public health, and support student success; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, period poverty affects thousands of Georgia residents, disproportionately impacting students, low-income families, and individuals in underserved communities; and WHEREAS, the inability to access menstrual products leads to missed school days, work absences, and public health concerns; and WHEREAS, eliminating the 4 percent state sales tax on menstrual products will make these essential items more affordable; and WHEREAS, providing free menstrual products in public schools, courthouses, government buildings, and university buildings promotes dignity, supports public health, reduces absenteeism, and affirms that menstrual care is a basic health necessity; and WHEREAS, local governments, private businesses, and nonprofit organizations are encouraged to support the implementation of the "Georgia Menstrual Equity Act of 2026" through partnerships, donations, and awareness campaigns; and WHEREAS, the "Georgia Menstrual Equity Act of 2026" furthers this state's commitment to gender equity, health equity, and educational access. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body urge statewide support for the "Georgia Menstrual Equity Act of 2026," an act promoting equitable access to menstrual products to reduce period poverty, improve public health, and support student success. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the Governor, the Georgia Department of Education, the Georgia Department of Public Health, the Association County Commissioners of Georgia, the Georgia Municipal Association, and all members of the Georgia General Assembly.
