A RESOLUTION
Congratulating and commending the Good Neighbor Homeless Shelter upon 30 years of dedicated service; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, in 2026, the Good Neighbor Homeless Shelter will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of its founding; and
WHEREAS, the Good Neighbor Homeless Shelter provides men, women, and families in Cartersville, Georgia, with temporary shelter and physical, emotional, and spiritual support in times of need; and
WHEREAS, established during an ice storm on February 2, 1996, the Good Neighbor Homeless Shelter has grown from humble beginnings in a borrowed house to transforming the lives of countless individuals in a 24-hour facility with capacity for 30 guests; and
WHEREAS, the Good Neighbor Homeless Shelter now operates two emergency shelters as well offers more than 10 units of transitional housing for families and children; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this extraordinary organization be appropriately recognized.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body congratulate the Good Neighbor Homeless Shelter upon 30 years of service, commend it for its many outstanding contributions on behalf of the citizens of Georgia, and extend best wishes for its continued growth, development, and success. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Good Neighbor Homeless Shelter.
