House Resolution 1131 By: Representatives Gambill of the 15th, Erwin of the 32nd, Persinger of the 119th, Clifton of the 131st, Fleming of the 114th, and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Mike Dunham on his outstanding career with the Associated General Contractors of Georgia; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, Mike Dunham began his career in 1981 within the Associated General Contractors of America organization by serving in the capacity of Managing Director of the Northeast Louisiana Contractors Association, later becoming Executive Director of the Northeastern Florida Chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America in 1989; and WHEREAS, in May 1995, Mike was selected as the Chief Executive Officer of the Associated General Contractors of Georgia, Inc. (AGC Georgia) and has faithfully served in that role until his retirement in December 2025; and WHEREAS, AGC Georgia member firms perform most of the commercial construction work in Georgia and include more than 650 of the state's leading general contractors, residential/light commercial builders, construction managers, design-builders, municipal-utility contractors, heavy and highway contractors, specialty contractors, service providers, and suppliers; and WHEREAS, Mike skillfully led an association comprised of this wide range of disciplines, excelling in overseeing operations and providing steadfast support to the membership; and WHEREAS, under Mike's leadership, AGC Georgia expanded member benefits and resources, including the creation of a retirement savings program, establishment of the AGC Georgia Foundation, and growth of CompTrust AGC Mutual Captive Insurance Company; and WHEREAS, throughout his 30-year tenure, Mike served as a registered lobbyist for AGC Georgia and as a member of the American Society of Association Executives, the Georgia Society of Association Executives, and the Georgia Professional Lobbyist Association; and WHEREAS, Mike has generously given his time, expertise, and influence to advancing workforce development by championing efforts to introduce construction careers to K-12 students, thereby forever expanding the opportunities available to future generations; supporting and enhancing the creation and growth of eight regional Skills Challenge competitions; serving on the Georgia Southern University Construction Management Program Industry Advisory Board; and acting as a trusted resource for leaders within the Georgia Department of Education's CTAE program and the Technical College System of Georgia; and WHEREAS, his tireless efforts and exemplary leadership have resulted in numerous honors for AGC Georgia including the AGC of America Large Chapter of the Year Award in 2007, 2014, and 2022; decades of 100 percent participation in the AGC of America Chapter Board Member Challenge, being consistently recognized as contributing the highest dollar total of any Chapter Board in the nation; and guiding AGC Georgia members to lead all 87 chapters in contributions to AGC of America PAC for the past two years. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend Mike Dunham for his efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated service to the Associated General Contractors of Georgia; congratulate him upon the grand occasion of his retirement; and extend the most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Mike Dunham.
