A RESOLUTION
Celebrating the first HOA, COA, and POA Day at the capitol and recognizing the importance
of civic engagement with homeowners across Georgia; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, homeownership has long been recognized as a cornerstone of the American
Dream, providing families with stability, opportunity, and a meaningful stake in their
communities; and
WHEREAS, millions of Georgians reside in communities governed by Homeowners
Associations (HOA), Condominium Owners Associations (COA), and Property Owners
Associations (POA), which play an important role in community management and shared
governance; and
WHEREAS, homeowners across the State of Georgia have expressed concerns, questions,
and challenges related to transparency, accountability, communication, affordability, and due
process within association-governed communities; and
WHEREAS, the Georgia General Assembly recognizes that listening to constituents is a
fundamental responsibility of public service and that constructive dialogue strengthens trust
between the people and their government; and
WHEREAS, HOA, COA, and POA Day at the capitol provides an opportunity for
homeowners to peacefully assemble, share lived experiences, and engage with elected
officials regarding matters that directly affect their homes, families, and financial security;
and
WHEREAS, this Day at the Capitol reflects a shared commitment by elected officials-across
party lines-to hear homeowner concerns, understand emerging challenges, and work
collaboratively to preserve and strengthen the American Dream of Homeownership for
present and future generations; and
WHEREAS, fostering open communication between homeowners, community leaders, and
policymakers encourages thoughtful, balanced, and forward-looking solutions that respect
both individual property rights and community interests.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
the members of this body recognize and celebrate the first HOA, COA, and POA Day at the
capitol as a meaningful civic engagement event that elevates homeowner voices and
promotes dialogue grounded in respect, transparency, and shared responsibility.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the House of Representatives affirms its commitment
to listening to homeowners' concerns, complaints, and emerging crises and to
working-without regard to partisanship-to address issues that impact housing stability,
community well-being, and the American Dream of Homeownership.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the House of Representatives commends the
homeowners who traveled to the State Capitol to advocate for their communities, recognizing
their civic participation as an essential element of a healthy democracy.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the
public and the press.
