A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending the Association of Nutrition and Foodservice Professionals;
and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, the Association of Nutrition & Foodservice Professionals (Certified Dietary
Managers, Certified Foodservice Protection Professional) is comprised of educated and
highly trained professionals who are responsible for ensuring quality nutritional care and
foodservice operations for clients and residents in nursing homes, assisted living and
residential facilities, educational institutions, community nutrition sites, correctional centers,
hospitals, substance use treatment centers, boarding homes, developmental disability and
mental health centers, colleges, schools, and restaurants; and
WHEREAS, according to national data, more than 1.3 million foodservice and nutrition
professionals work across healthcare, education, and community-based settings in the United
States, serving millions of individuals daily and playing a critical role in health outcomes,
safety, and quality of life; and
WHEREAS, proper nutrition and safe foodservice practices are directly linked to improved
health outcomes, reduced hospital readmissions, enhanced academic performance, and better
long-term wellness, particularly among seniors, children, individuals with disabilities, and
those in recovery or institutional care; and
WHEREAS, members of the Association of Nutrition & Foodservice Professionals (Certified
Dietary Managers, Certified Foodservice Protection Professional) play a critical role in
safeguarding public health by hiring, orienting, and training employees to meet and exceed
federal, state, and local health regulations, food safety standards, and sanitation
codes-standards that are essential in preventing foodborne illness and protecting vulnerable
populations; and
WHEREAS, foodborne illnesses affect an estimated 48 million Americans each year,
underscoring the importance of trained nutrition and foodservice professionals who ensure
compliance, accountability, and continuous improvement within foodservice operations; and
WHEREAS, these professionals demonstrate leadership, accountability, and commitment to
excellence while supporting the nutritional well-being, dignity, and quality of life of the
individuals and communities they serve; and
WHEREAS, a designated recognition week provides an important opportunity to
acknowledge the vital contributions of the foodservice profession and to encourage members
of the Association of Nutrition & Foodservice Professionals (Certified Dietary Managers,
Certified Foodservice Protection Professional) to unite in celebration of their service, impact,
and professionalism.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
the members of this body recognize and commend the Association of Nutrition and
Foodservice Professionals for ensuring proper nutrition and practices of foodservice safety
thereby protecting public heath.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the
Association of Nutrition and Foodservice Professionals.
