A RESOLUTION

Recognizing February 4, 2026, as Hispanic Day at the state capitol; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Georgia is home to more than one million people of Hispanic American heritage who are part of the economic, social, and cultural fabric of the state, and their daily contributions need to be recognized, uplifted, and honored as integral to Georgia; and

WHEREAS, Hispanics in Georgia are a young community yet are very active in all sectors. Latino men participate in the workforce in Georgia at higher rates than any other demographic group, Hispanics turn out to vote at higher rates than the national average, and a third of the community is under 18 years old and actively working to pursue their educational aspirations; and

WHEREAS, Hispanics have been an integral part of building the state and its economic standing, including workers in carpet manufacturing in Whitfield County, the poultry industry in Hall County, the agricultural sector in rural areas and South Georgia, in retail through entrepreneurship as a self-sufficiency strategy, in the military and law enforcement, professionally in corporations and businesses, in the public and nonprofit sector, and academically through institutions of higher education; and

WHEREAS, Hispanics are well known for their appreciation of family and community as well as their joy and optimism; and

WHEREAS, Hispanics provide an immense amount of arts and culture to the State of Georgia and have a vast array of artisans and folkloric groups from all nations in Latin America and the Caribbean, from Mexico to Argentina as well as from Puerto Rico and Brazil to Peru; and

WHEREAS, this diverse community will continue growing to represent a significant percentage of Georgia, and it is expected its representation and civic participation will only increase.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize February 4, 2026, as Hispanic Day at the state capitol. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the press.
