A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Carol H. Burrell; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Carol H. Burrell has served as president and chief executive officer of Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS) since 2011, leading the health system through an era of unparalleled success and growth; and

WHEREAS, under her leadership, NGHS has grown from a one-hospital system with a few employed physician practices and satellite outpatient locations to one of the largest and most well-respected organizations in the state, with an economic impact of nearly $7.5 billion each year; and

WHEREAS, she currently leads more than 12,000 employees across numerous health care institutions, including the Northeast Georgia Medical Center, the Northeast Georgia Physicians Group, the Georgia Heart Institute, and Graduate Medical Education as well as dozens of medical office buildings, urgent care centers, imaging centers, long term care facilities, and rehabilitation clinics; and

WHEREAS, her dedication and commitment to excellence has been acknowledged by the many recognitions she has received, such as being named Georgia's Most Respected Business leader by Georgia Trend magazine as well as appearing on the list of the 100 Most Influential Georgians for 12 years in a row; and

WHEREAS, as further testament to her exemplary service, Carol Burrell is a past board chair for the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce and is active in the Gainesville Rotary, the United Way, the Georgia Hospital Association, the American College of Healthcare Executives, and Vizient MidSouth; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding contributions of this extraordinary Georgian be recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend Carol H. Burrell for her years of dedicated, effective, and efficient service as well as extend sincere best wishes for future health, happiness, and success.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Carol H. Burrell.
