House Resolution 1160 By: Representative Draper of the 90th A RESOLUTION Commemorating Imam Abdul-Hamed's ten years of leadership and acknowledging the Masjid's more than six decades of service to the people of Atlanta and the State of Georgia; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, The Atlanta Masjid of Al-Islam, established in 1958, is one of Atlanta's longest standing faith and community institutions, with a continuous record of service in spiritual leadership, education, youth development, and community stability; and WHEREAS, The Masjid's serves a historic role in strengthening families, mentoring generations of young people, supporting vulnerable populations, and fostering civic responsibility and peaceful coexistence in Atlanta; and WHEREAS, Imam Sulaimaan Abdul-Hamed's ten years of leadership are marked by moral guidance, community stewardship, interfaith engagement, and outreach initiatives that contribute to the social, civic, and cultural well being of Georgia's citizens; and WHEREAS, with Imam Abdul-Hamed's steady presence of faith and principled leadership, the Atlanta Masjid of Al-Islam continues to serve as a trusted anchor in Atlanta, working collaboratively with neighbors, civic partners, and faith communities to promote peace, understanding, and the overall well being of the community; and WHEREAS, his leadership reflects a consistent commitment to unity, dignity, and shared responsibility among the people of Atlanta. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize Imam Abdul-Hamed's ten years of leadership and acknowledge the Masjid's more than six decades of service to the State of Georgia. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to Imam Abdul-Hamed and The Atlanta Masjid of Al-Islam.
