House Resolution 1170 By: Representatives Crawford of the 89th, Griffin of the 149th, Sampson of the 153rd, Reese of the 140th, and Willis of the 55th A RESOLUTION Recognizing February 10, 2026, as Omega Day at the Georgia State Capitol; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., founded on November 17, 1911, at Howard University, holds the distinction of being the first African-American Greek-letter fraternity established at a Historically Black College or University; and WHEREAS, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., has, for more than a century, demonstrated an unwavering commitment to leadership, scholarship, community Uplift, and civic engagement across the nation and throughout the State of Georgia; and WHEREAS, members of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., across the State of Georgia, under the leadership of Omega Psi Phi Georgia State Representative Timothy Block, annually convene in the State Capitol City of Atlanta for a Legislative Workshop designed to strengthen their role as advocates for critical urban, rural, family, military, and collegiate legislative issues; and WHEREAS, this annual gathering provides an opportunity for Omega men to meet with key legislation sponsors and co-sponsors to receive updates, exchange ideas, and develop strategies for how the fraternity can continue to play a meaningful role in shaping policy and supporting communities throughout Georgia; and WHEREAS, the 2026 Omega Day at the Capitol will be observed on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, marking a significant occasion to recognize the fraternity's contributions to the State of Georgia and its continued dedication to legislative engagement and community advancement. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., for its continued civic progress and human welfare advocacy at Omega Day at the Capitol and extend best wishes for a productive and impactful Legislative Workshop and continued service to the citizens of Georgia. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of this body recognize February 10, 2026, as Omega Day at the Georgia State Capitol. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
