A RESOLUTION
Recognizing National Immunization Week 2026 and expressing support for the goals of the
Georgia Universal Vaccine Access Act; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, routine immunizations prevent serious illness, disability, and death, saving
countless lives each year; and
WHEREAS, immunization programs reduce health care costs, protect the most vulnerable,
and safeguard the strength and well-being of communities; and
WHEREAS, National Immunization Week 2026 is an opportunity to celebrate the advances
in public health that vaccines have made possible and to recommit ourselves to expanding
access for all Georgians; and
WHEREAS, disparities in vaccination rates continue to exist across Georgia, with children
in low-income families, seniors on fixed incomes, rural residents, and communities of color
facing the greatest barriers to access; and
WHEREAS, every child and senior deserves equitable access to life-saving vaccines
regardless of income, insurance status, or geography; and
WHEREAS, the proposed Georgia Universal Vaccine Access Act creates a sustainable
framework to provide all children and seniors with ACIP-recommended vaccines at no cost,
ensures fair contributions from health insurers, and invests in outreach to close equity gaps.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
the members of this body recognize National Immunization Week 2026 and express their
support for protecting public health, promoting equity, and safeguarding future generations
through universal access to vaccines.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the
Georgia Department of Public Health and the National Public Health Information Coalition.
