A RESOLUTION
Honoring the 1966 Perry High School basketball team on the 60th anniversary of winning the Class A State Championship; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, the 1966 Perry Georgia High School basketball team, under the leadership of rookie Head Coach Paul Hartman, completed an exceptional season with a final record of 31 wins and 2 losses; and
WHEREAS, although one of Perry's shortest teams in terms of height, this team left behind a legacy of unflinching determination in the face of adversity and an unbridled passion to win; and
WHEREAS, the roster of this esteemed team included players Marion Cloud, Joe Martin, Terry Todd, Ed Pierce, Charles Ayer, Lee St. John, Carlton Bessinger, Ed Harley, Eddie Watson, Rodney Lowe, Eugene Graham, Don Norris, and Kenny Stefanini, along with Coaches J. T. Brady, Grover Hicks, and Paul Hartman; and
WHEREAS, the team's success led to five players, Joe Martin, Terry Todd, Charles Ayer, Ed Pierce and Marion Cloud being selected to the All-State Team; and
WHEREAS, the team demonstrated outstanding dedication, skill, and teamwork throughout the season, culminating in a state championship title.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commemorate the enduring legacy and historic achievement of the 1966 Perry High School Panthers basketball team for their significant contribution to their school and community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the 1966 Perry High School basketball team.
