A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and honoring Cindy Connelly for her distinguished service to the Credit Union
Movement, her advocacy leadership at the Georgia Credit Union Affiliates, and her decades
of impact on federal, state, and local policy for credit unions; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, the members of the Georgia House of Representatives wish to recognize and
commend individuals whose exceptional leadership, advocacy, and professional service have
had a profound and lasting impact on the economic and cooperative landscape of the State
of Georgia; and
WHEREAS, Cindy Connelly currently serves as Senior Vice President of Governmental
Affairs and Outreach for Georgia United Credit Union in Duluth, Georgia, where her
strategic leadership, commitment to member service, and deep understanding of public
policy have strengthened Georgia United's ability to serve its members and communities; and
WHEREAS, over more than four decades in the credit union movement, Cindy Connelly has
dedicated her career to advancing the mission of credit unions and building enduring
relationships with elected officials, regulators, and industry leaders on behalf of credit union
members across Georgia and the United States; and
WHEREAS, Cindy Connelly devoted decades of service to the Georgia Credit Union
Affiliates, where she led governmental affairs efforts and was widely regarded as a principal
architect of Georgia's credit union advocacy strategy, strengthening the industry's voice and
effectiveness at every level of government; and
WHEREAS, through her advocacy leadership with the League and its successor
organizations, Cindy Connelly played a pivotal role in shaping public policy that protected
cooperative financial institutions and helped people afford life, including her influential work
with Congress driving the Credit Union Membership Access Act of 1998; and
WHEREAS, her advocacy career has been marked by bipartisan respect and trust, enabling
credit unions to engage collaboratively with policymakers and regulators in pursuit of
policies that benefit consumers, communities, and the broader economy; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of her lifetime of service and leadership, Cindy Connelly was
inducted into America's Credit Union Museum's "Credit Union Women Making History -
Herstory" exhibit in 2023, honoring her as a trailblazer whose contributions have left a
lasting imprint on the credit union movement.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
the members of this body honor and commend Cindy Connelly for her decades of
distinguished service, her leadership in shaping effective advocacy for her beloved credit
union industry, and her enduring contributions to the economic and civic life of the State of
Georgia.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Cindy
Connelly.
