WHEREAS, Karmesha Washington Smith has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital role that she has played in leadership and her deep personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and WHEREAS, she has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of her time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of her community and state as evidenced dramatically by her commitment to transparency, accountability, and community-centered governance in Stonecrest; and WHEREAS, her dedication to public service began as a technology support intern with DeKalb County Parks and Recreation, where she later worked for nearly three years after graduating from Georgia Southern University; and WHEREAS, she has continued serving the community through numerous roles, including Vice President of the Klondike Area Civic Association, Co-Chair of Delta GEMS (Decatur Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.), Chair of the Principal Advisory Council at E.L.
