## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A Georgia House resolution formally commends the Newnan Kiwanis Club of Coweta County on its 100th anniversary, recognizing decades of local fundraising and charitable giving.

### Plain-language summary

This is a ceremonial resolution from the Georgia House of Representatives honoring the Newnan Kiwanis Club, which was founded in 1925. The resolution recounts the club's history, including its role since 1947 co-sponsoring the Coweta County Fair and, since 2001, running the fair at a new site the club bought and deeded to Coweta County.
The text notes the club has distributed more than $5.8 million to local charities using fair proceeds, including $300,000 to 58 organizations in 2025 alone. The resolution does not change any Georgia law; it simply has the House commend and congratulate the club and directs the Clerk of the House to provide the club a copy of the resolution.

### What it does

- Formally commends and congratulates the Newnan Kiwanis Club on the occasion of its 100th anniversary on behalf of the state of Georgia.
- Recites the club's history, including its 1925 founding and its sponsorship of the Coweta County Fair since 1947.
- Notes the club's charitable giving, including more than $5.8 million donated over time and $300,000 to 58 organizations in 2025.
- Directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to prepare and distribute a copy of the resolution to the Newnan Kiwanis Club.

### Who it affects

The resolution directly names the Newnan Kiwanis Club and, by extension, the Coweta County community and the dozens of local charities that have received its donations, such as Meals on Wheels of Coweta County and the Boys and Girls Club of Newnan.

### Why it matters

The resolution carries no legal or funding changes; its practical effect is symbolic recognition. It gives the Newnan Kiwanis Club official acknowledgment from the state legislature for a century of civic fundraising and local charitable giving in Coweta County.

### Key provisions

- The whereas clauses describe the club's 1925 founding by Dr. Thomas Bailey and its sponsorship by the Atlanta Kiwanis Club.
- The text credits the club with purchasing and deeding the fairground property to Coweta County in 2001.
- The resolution states the club has given over $5.8 million to local 501(c)3 charities from fair proceeds, including $300,000 to 58 groups in 2025.
- The resolving clause has the House commend and congratulate the club and wish it continued growth and success.
- A further resolved clause directs the Clerk of the House to distribute a copy of the resolution to the club.
