By: Representatives Smith of the 70th, Jenkins of the 136th, Bonner of the 73rd, Dawson of the
65th, and Glaize of the 67th
A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the Newnan Junior Service League upon its 100th anniversary; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS, the Newnan Junior Service League (NJSL) is a women-only organization
committed to enhancing the quality of life in Coweta County and the surrounding areas
through dedicated service, volunteerism, and leadership; and
WHEREAS, founded in 1926, this prestigious organization, comprised of 70 current
members and more that 350 alumni, will be celebrating 100 years of impact in Coweta
County; and
WHEREAS, each year, NJSL selects a local non-profit’s project to fundraise for and support;
this year’s grant recipient is Hope Global and all proceeds will support building and
supplying a new art room for underserved children in the community; and
WHEREAS, NJSL participates in and hosts serval events throughout the year including the
Christmas in Newnan program and the Annual Can-A-Thon, that collected a record braking
200,000 cans in its 42nd year; and
WHEREAS, in 2025, NJSL awarded 10 college scholarships totaling $20,000 to young
ladies from the county’s three largest high schools: East Coweta High, Newnan High School,
and Northgate; and
WHEREAS, from scholarships to grants to philanthropic events and fundraisers, events of
the Newnan Junior Service League prove their members’ dedication to giving back to the
community and bettering the lives of all who live in Coweta County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
the members of this body congratulate the Newnan Junior Service League upon its 100th
anniversary and extend best wishes for its continued growth and success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the
Newnan Junior Service League.
