By: Representative Jones of the 60th
A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending the historic Booker T. Washington High School Class of 1976
on the occasion of their 50th reunion celebration; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, The Booker T. Washington Class of 1976 will celebrate their 50th reunion on
September 18-19, 2026; and
WHEREAS, the commencement exercises for 363 graduates were held at 8:30 p.m. on
Saturday, June 5,1976, at the Atlanta Civic Center; and
WHEREAS, the class valedictorians are Patrick Clark Pittman and Mona L. Johnson, and
class salutatorian is Rosetta Arlene Lawson; and
WHEREAS, the senior class officers include Linda Ann Thomas, Queen; Wayne Harper,
President; Tammye Yvonne Jenkins, Vice President; Wanda Joyce Wade, Secretary, Carl
Lee Jackson III, Treasurer; and Patrick Pittman, Business Manager; and
WHEREAS, the class remembers the dedication of homeroom teachers, Principal Robert L.
Collins, and beloved Assistant Principal Armstead L. Salters; and
WHEREAS, the bicentennial graduating class matriculated at Booker T. Washington High
School from September 1971 to June 1976; and
WHEREAS, the Class of 1976 honors the memory of deceased classmates who will never
be forgotten; and
WHEREAS, through the years, members of the class have been employed by the State of
Georgia, many of whom are now retirees; and
WHEREAS, members of the Class of 1976 continue to support the Alumni Association, the
students, the school, and are forever Washingtonians in the royal blue and white Bulldog
Nation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
the members of this body recognize and commend the Booker T. Washington High School
Class of 1976 for their outstanding contributions to the State of Georgia and congratulates
them on the grand occasion of their 50th high school reunion.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the
public and the press.
