A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending the Junior League Movement on the occasion of its 125th
anniversary and honoring its enduring legacy of developing women leaders and
strengthening communities through volunteer service, civic engagement, and advocacy; and
for other purposes.
WHEREAS, the Junior League was founded in 1901 by Mary Harriman with the vision of
empowering women to improve their communities through trained volunteer leadership; and
WHEREAS, for 125 years, the Junior League Movement has advanced women's leadership
for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and leadership
development; and
WHEREAS, the Association of Junior Leagues International supports a global network of
nearly 300 local Leagues across multiple countries, mobilizing more than 112,000 women
committed to strengthening communities through service and leadership; and
WHEREAS, the Junior Leagues of Georgia State Public Affairs Committee (JLGA SPAC)
serves as a statewide training and advocacy body that educates members on the legislative
process and coordinates nonpartisan public policy engagement across Georgia; and
WHEREAS, JLGA SPAC supports informed advocacy efforts focused on the aid and
protection of women and girls, equity, healthcare access, and education, while preparing
women to serve as effective civic leaders in nonprofit organizations, public service,
education, healthcare, and business; and
WHEREAS, members of the Junior League Movement have contributed thousands of
volunteer hours and significant financial resources to advance education, family stability,
health and well-being, civic engagement, and community vitality throughout the State of
Georgia; and
WHEREAS, the celebration of the 125th anniversary of the Junior League Movement
provides an opportunity to honor the women who built this legacy and to inspire future
generations to lead with purpose, integrity, and impact.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
the members of this body recognize and commend the Junior League Movement on its 125th
anniversary and extend their appreciation to Junior League members, past and present, for
their enduring contributions to leadership development and community improvement.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of this body acknowledge the continued
service of the Junior Leagues of Georgia and the Junior Leagues of Georgia State Public
Affairs Committee in advancing civic leadership, equity, education, healthcare access, and
the well-being of women and girls across the state.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the
Junior League Movement.
