A RESOLUTION
Congratulating and commending Frank and Solomon Nixon Funeral Home on the occasion of its 100th Anniversary; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Frank and Solomon Nixon Funeral Home was founded in Tifton, Tift County, Georgia, in 1925 by Frank Thomas Nixon and Reverend Jake Parson under the name Nixon and Parson Undertaking Co.; and
WHEREAS, later the name would change to Nixon, Parson, and Wilson Undertaking Co., Inc. with the addition of Matt Wilson to the business in 1927; and
WHEREAS, these three gentlemen went into the business of serving and building lasting relationships with African American families in Tift County and surrounding counties during one of the most challenging times of life– the loss of the loved one; and
WHEREAS, after Reverend Parson moved to Florida and Matt Wilson passed away, both of their interests were purchased by Frank T. Nixon and his son, Solomon Nixon, Sr., and thereafter the name of the funeral home was Nixon & Son Funeral Home, and then ultimately changed to Frank and Solomon Nixon Funeral Home; and
WHEREAS, Frank and Solomon Nixon Funeral Home has remained a proud family-owned and operated business for 100 years; and
WHEREAS, the funeral home has proudly operated through three generations of service with the dedicated efforts of Frank T. Nixon, Licensed Funeral Director; Solomon Nixon, Sr., Licensed Funeral Director and his wife, Ann Lovett Nixon, Licensed Funeral Director; Ronald Keith Nixon, Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer; and Solomon Nixon, Jr., Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer
WHEREAS, Frank and Solomon Nixon Funeral Home has provided compassionate, professional, and dignified care to families during their most difficult times, guided by strong family values and an unwavering commitment to excellence; and
WHEREAS, the funeral home and The Nixon Family have faithfully served countless Georgia families with integrity, respect, and empathy, earning the trust of the community and establishing a lasting legacy of service and professionalism; and
WHEREAS, Frank and Solomon Nixon Funeral Home and The Nixon Family have played an important role in the civic life of their community and Georgia by creating jobs, leading and supporting local organizations, serving on state and local governmental boards and commissions, participating in charitable and faith-based initiatives, and contributing to the economic and social well-being of the region and Georgia; and
WHEREAS, achieving a 100-year milestone as a family-owned business is a rare and noteworthy accomplishment that reflects perseverance, strong leadership, and the enduring support of the community it serves; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper to recognize this historic milestone and commend Frank and Solomon Nixon Funeral Home and The Nixon Family for their exceptional service and lasting contributions to the State of Georgia.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body body commend and congratulate The Nixon Family and Frank and Solomon Nixon Funeral Home on the celebration of its 100th anniversary and extend best wishes for continued success for generations to come
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Frank and Solomon Nixon Funeral Home.
