House Resolution 1274 By: Representative Taylor of the 92nd A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Dr. Aduke Aremu; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, Dr. Aduke Aremu is an internationally recognized playwright, producer, and educator with more than five decades of distinguished service to the arts and arts education; and WHEREAS, a resident of Georgia with deep historical roots in Savannah, she has made significant contributions to American and international theatre, with works presented at major cultural institutions in the United States and abroad; and WHEREAS, Dr. Aremu has served as a New York State Arts Commissioner, and produced works at leading venues including the Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, BAM, and the Apollo Theatre; and WHEREAS, she has held faculty appointments at multiple colleges and universities, and founded pioneering arts-based educational initiatives; and WHEREAS, her exemplary career has been recognized with numerous honors, including the Georgia Outstanding Citizen Award and President Barack Obama's Lifetime Achievement Award, reflecting her enduring impact on cultural excellence, education, and public service; and WHEREAS, a graduate of Hunter College with advanced studies at New York University, Dr. Aremu continues to advance cultural excellence and civic engagement as founder and executive producer of Aduke Aremu Productions, LLC, leaving an enduring legacy of artistic achievement, educational innovation, and public service. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend Dr. Aduke Aremu and extend sincere best wishes for her continued health, happiness, and success. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Dr. Aduke Aremu.
