A RESOLUTION
Recognizing February 9-13, 2026, as Georgia Donor Week at the state capitol; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, organ donation is a lifesaving and life-enhancing gift, offering hope and healing to the thousands of individuals awaiting transplants each year; and
WHEREAS, more than 100,000 people in the United States are currently on the national transplant waiting list; and
WHEREAS, a single donor can save up to eight lives, restore sight in two individuals, and improve the lives of more than 75 others through tissue donation; and
WHEREAS, Georgia Donor Week serves as a time to honor donors and their families for the extraordinary generosity that makes transplantation possible; and
WHEREAS, this observance also recognizes the dedicated medical teams, recovery organizations, healthcare processionals, and community partners who work tirelessly to support donation and transplantation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize February 9-13, 2026, as Georgia Donor Week at the state capitol and encourage all citizens to learn more about organ donation. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the press.
