A RESOLUTION

Recognizing February 24, 2026, as ERA day in the state of Georgia; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, women in Georgia and in the United States have continuously worked to gain full rights and privileges– public or private, legal or institutional– as citizens of the United States, and

WHEREAS, women in Georgia, and in every state, worked to secure women's right to vote among other significant milestones in equal rights; and

WHEREAS, it is critical to remember the trailblazers that made it possible for women to vote, and it is vital to teach the history and hear the voices of the women who persist in telling their stories; and

WHEREAS, the work of past and present Suffragists and Equal Rights Amendment Advocates, including the League of Women Voters, the Georgia Women's Legislative Caucus, and so many more have contributed and continue to contribute to the protection of equal rights for women; and

WHEREAS, ERA Day highlights the ongoing need for equality in various aspects of life, including economic security, reproductive health, and political representation; and

WHEREAS, recognizing ERA Day as a day of celebration throughout the state of Georgia and the country emphasizes the importance of women's work for democracy and equal rights.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize February 24, 2026, as ERA day in support of women's equality in Georgia and across our nation.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the press.
