House Resolution 1313 By: Representatives Smith of the 138th, Huddleston of the 72nd, Buckner of the 137th, and Jenkins of the 136th A RESOLUTION Recognizing February 11, 2026, as Kia Day at the state capitol and commending Kia's vehicle manufacturing and impact to the state; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, Georgia is a center of automobile manufacturing and home to Kia's assembly plant in West Point, Georgia; and WHEREAS, the automobile manufacturing industry in Georgia is resilient and growing; in the last 16 years, Kia Georgia has produced over 5 million vehicles in the state; and WHEREAS, Kia Georgia has contributed over $23 million to the local community, promoting education, health and wellness, and environmental preservation and sustainability as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility program; and WHEREAS, Kia Georgia has promoted workforce development in K-12 education through its sponsorship of SAE Foundation's "A World In Motion" and Greenpower USA, along with supporting CTAE programs, and is actively involved with the Technical College System of Georgia and is a founding partner of UGA's Georgia Network for Electric Mobility; and WHEREAS, the Kia brand has 22 dealerships across the state participating in Kia's Veterans Technician Apprenticeship Program; and WHEREAS, since establishing its assembly plant in 2009 in West Point, Georgia, Kia has invested more than $3.2 billion in the state, which includes the recent over $200 million expansion for production of electric vehicles at this site; and WHEREAS, Kia is committed to a "customer-centric" business model through its flexible production system focusing on market-driven trends, providing mobility solutions that meet customer needs and exceed expectations; and WHEREAS, Kia Georgia employs more than 3,200 team members, and is responsible for more than 14,000 plant and supplier jobs in the region; and WHEREAS, Kia Georgia is the US manufacturing home of five award-winning models: Telluride, Sorento and Sportage SUVs and the all-electric EV9 and EV6 SUVs, producing 3 powertrains (gasoline, hybrid and electric) on a single-line system. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Kia Georgia and recognize February 11, 2026, as Kia Day at the state capitol. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the press.
