## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A Georgia House resolution formally commends DeKalb County Superior Court Judge Stacey K. Hydrick for her judicial career and service to the state.

### Plain-language summary

This resolution is a ceremonial measure passed by the Georgia House of Representatives. It does not change any law. Instead, it recognizes and praises the Honorable Stacey K. Hydrick for her work as a judge and prosecutor in Georgia.
The resolution recounts her career, including her 2019 appointment by Governor Brian Kemp to the DeKalb County Superior Court, her earlier service as a DeKalb County State Court Judge under Governor Nathan Deal, and prior roles as a Chief Senior Assistant District Attorney, Special Assistant United States Attorney, and Assistant Attorney General. The House formally commends her for her service and directs the Clerk of the House to provide her a copy of the resolution.

### What it does

- Formally commends Judge Stacey K. Hydrick for her service on the DeKalb County Superior Court and her broader legal career.
- Recounts her judicial appointments, including her 2019 appointment by Governor Brian Kemp and earlier appointment by Governor Nathan Deal to DeKalb County State Court.
- Directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to prepare and distribute a copy of the resolution to Judge Hydrick.
- Does not create, amend, or repeal any Georgia statute; it is a symbolic honor with no regulatory or funding effect.

### Who it affects

The resolution directly names and honors Judge Stacey K. Hydrick. It has no regulatory effect on other judges, courts, or Georgians, though it reflects on the DeKalb County judicial system where she serves.

### Why it matters

This is a ceremonial resolution rather than a law, so it does not change how courts operate or affect anyone's legal rights. Its significance is symbolic: a formal, public statement from the Georgia House recognizing a sitting judge's career and contributions.

### Key provisions

- The resolution's whereas clauses detail Judge Hydrick's appointments, including her 2019 appointment to DeKalb County Superior Court, Division 6, where she handles felony criminal, domestic relations, and civil cases.
- It notes her prior roles as a Chief Senior Assistant District Attorney, Special Assistant United States Attorney, and Assistant Attorney General.
- The resolving clause has the House commend her for her service to the judiciary and citizens of Georgia.
- A further resolving clause directs the Clerk of the House to make a copy of the resolution available for distribution to her.
