House Resolution 1339 By: Representatives Kendrick of the 95th, Carter of the 93rd, Mitchell of the 88th, Clark of the 108th, Okoye of the 102nd, and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending the Gwinnett African American Caucus; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, established in 2019, the Gwinnett African American Caucus (GAAC) is an organization focused on the political interests of African Americans in Gwinnett County as it relates to the Democratic Party of Georgia, as well as all policies, legislation, and representation; and WHEREAS, the mission of the GAAC is to encourage involvement and to educate African American Gwinnettians on issues impacting the group, providing a strong voice and representation within the party and throughout the entire political sphere; and WHEREAS, along with a steadfast commitment to advocacy for African American causes and interests, GAAC is committed to lending support to other marginalized groups and communities; and WHEREAS, GAAC is dedicated to ensuring that those who serve Gwinnett in public office, operate with integrity and serve as a positive representation for the diverse county of Gwinnett; and WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this dynamic, progressive, and visionary organization, its members, and its leadership be appropriately honored. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend the Gwinnett African American Caucus for helping shape policies and platforms within the Democratic Party and for encouraging further conversation and analyses on concerns of the African American community. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Gwinnett African American Caucus.
