A RESOLUTION
Honoring the life and memory of John Donald Steed, Jr.; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens
with the passing of John Donald Steed, Jr., on January 17, 2026; and
WHEREAS, John was a beloved son of John D. Steed, Sr., and Kathleen Steed Cullen, as
well as the brother to Christoper, Brendan, and Tommy and the uncle to his beloved nieces
and nephews; and
WHEREAS, he was united in love and marriage to his wife, Megan Sorrell, and was blessed
with two remarkable sons, Jack and Michael; and
WHEREAS, he served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and liberty with the United
States Army, valiantly and courageously protecting his fellow Americans; and
WHEREAS, after completing his active service John continued his education and earned a
Master of Business Administration degree from Cornell University and a Master in Political
Management from The George Washington University; and
WHEREAS, John enjoyed a very successful career in the private sector where he led
marketing efforts for large companies and global brands; and
WHEREAS, he was an avid fan of Bruce Springsteen, and his enthusiasm for The Boss was
infectious; and
WHEREAS, he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation
for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example he made of his life, he
made this world a better place in which to live; and
WHEREAS, he had a deep concern for his fellow citizens, was a person of magnanimous
strengths and was known for his humility, intelligence, and kindness, and he strove to make
this world a better place.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of John Donald Steed, Jr., and
express their deepest and most sincere regret at his passing.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the
family of John Donald Steed, Jr.
