House Resolution 1402 By: Representatives Santos of the 117th, Flournoy of the 74th, and Holly of the 116th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Dr. Kimberly Miles during Black History Month; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, Dr. Kimberly Miles is an educator, published author, and community strategist whose career is built on a strong commitment to social justice, academic excellence, and celebrating achievement; and WHEREAS, as a leader in the Henry County School System and a prominent member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Dr. Miles combines her professional skills with a passion for service; and WHEREAS, the daughter of two educators, Dr. Miles continues her family legacy as a Social Studies Professional Learning Specialist and an Arts Integration Specialist where she creates transformative educational experiences that connect core curriculum with creative expression; and WHEREAS, she also acts as the Excellence Recognition Coordinator for Henry County Schools, ensuring that outstanding contributions are recognized and celebrated; and WHEREAS, Dr. Miles is the Director of the Henry County Regional National History Day competition, where she mentors future historians and critical thinkers; and WHEREAS, her contributions extend to a national level as a published author and editor, with her insights featured in the respected publication, The Leader; and WHEREAS, Dr. Miles's dedication to community empowerment stems from her long-standing advocacy in South Carolina, where she has served as Second Vice President of the NAACP in Bennettsville as well as Co-Chair of the Marlboro County Democratic Party; and WHEREAS, she is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished gentlewoman be appropriately recognized. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend Dr. Kimberly Miles, thank her for her dedicated public service, and extend their sincere best wishes for her continued health, happiness, and success. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Dr. Kimberly Miles.
