House Resolution 1403

A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Mason Howell; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mason Howell has quickly established himself as a rising star in amateur golf, most notably by winning the 125th U.S. Amateur Championship in 2025 at The Olympic Club; and

WHEREAS, at just 18 years old, he became the third-youngest winner in the tournament's history, surpassing the age mark set by Tiger Woods for his first title; and

WHEREAS, in the past year, Mason skillfully qualified for the 2025 U.S. Open at Oakmont as the youngest player on the field, and played a key role for Team USA in their Walker Cup victory at Cypress Point; and

WHEREAS, this stellar young man epitomizes the courage, determination, leadership, and character necessary to attain excellence in athletic prowess and performance; and

WHEREAS, Mason’s continued success is the culmination of hard work, dedication, and excellent sportsmanship; and

WHEREAS, his superior skill, strategy, stamina, and control have earned him the respect and admiration of his teammates and challengers; and

WHEREAS, Mason plans to further his athletic and academic success at the University of Georgia, committing to joining the university’s golf team in 2026; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the superlative abilities of this accomplished and gifted student-athlete, as well as the pride, honor, and respect he has brought to him, his school, and his state, be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend Mason Howell and extend best wishes for success in the future.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Mason Howell.
