## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A Georgia House resolution formally congratulates the Thomas County Central High School football team for winning the 2025 GHSA Class 5A State Football Championship.

### Plain-language summary

This resolution from the Georgia House of Representatives honors the Thomas County Central High School football team's 2025 state championship season. It recounts the team's record-setting year, including an all-time program and state scoring record of 808 points, and highlights individual achievements by running back Deuce Lawrence and quarterback Jalen Johnson.
The resolution does not change any law. It simply states that the House congratulates the team on winning the 2025 GHSA Class 5A State Football Championship and wishes them continued success. It also directs the Clerk of the House to prepare a copy of the resolution for distribution to the team as a keepsake.

### What it does

- Formally congratulates the Thomas County Central High School football team for winning the 2025 GHSA Class 5A State Football Championship.
- Recognizes specific achievements, including an 808 point scoring record and individual records set by players Deuce Lawrence and Jalen Johnson.
- Directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to prepare a copy of the resolution for distribution to the team.
- Extends the House's best wishes for the team's continued success but creates no legal obligations or funding.

### Who it affects

The Thomas County Central High School football team, its head coach Justin Rogers, and named players Deuce Lawrence and Jalen Johnson are the direct subjects. The resolution also involves the Clerk of the House of Representatives, who must prepare the commemorative copy.

### Why it matters

This is a ceremonial honor rather than a change to Georgia law. Its practical effect is limited to public recognition: the team receives an official House document commemorating their championship season, which carries symbolic rather than legal weight for the school or community.

### Key provisions

- The whereas clauses recount the team's 2025 season, including an all-time program and state scoring record of 808 points.
- The whereas clauses credit Head Coach Justin Rogers and highlight individual records by Deuce Lawrence and Jalen Johnson.
- The first resolved clause has the House of Representatives congratulate the team and wish them continued success.
