House Resolution 1408 By: Representatives Silcox of the 53rd, Holland of the 54th, Willis of the 55th, McQueen of the 61st, Olaleye of the 59th, and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Atlanta Chamber Players upon its 50th anniversary; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, on October 26, 1976, Atlanta Chamber Players (ACP) presented its debut concert at Presser Hall at Agnes Scott College, launching five decades of artistic leadership in chamber music; and WHEREAS, premiering more than 130 works, the ensemble has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to living composers and the continued growth of the chamber music repertoire; and WHEREAS, bringing chamber music from Atlanta to audiences across the United States, ACP has been featured on NPR's Performance Today several times; and WHEREAS, the organization was among the first ensembles nationally selected for Chamber Music America's prestigious Paul Residency Program; and WHEREAS, ACP is a participating member of the Cross-Country Chamber Consortium, collaborating with leading ensembles nationwide to commission and perform new works; and WHEREAS, the organization maintains strong educational partnerships with the Atlanta Music Project, Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra, and Franklin Pond Chamber Music, mentoring young musicians and expanding access to high-quality music education throughout the region; and WHEREAS, in 2009, ACP launched Rapido!® - A 14-Day Composition Contest, a nationally recognized initiative that has generated hundreds of new chamber works and elevated emerging composers; and WHEREAS, upon an occasion as historic as a 50th anniversary, it is only fitting and proper that this ensemble be honored. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize Atlanta Chamber Players upon its 50th anniversary and commend its steadfast commitment to commissioning new works, collaborating with community partners, and enriching Atlanta's cultural landscape through performances, education, and artistic innovation. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Atlanta Chamber Players.
