House Resolution 1434

A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending the Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the annual service trip to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico mobilized over 170 volunteers from across the United States, collectively raising more than $23,000 to directly support youth programming, facilities, and essential services across multiple club sites; and

WHEREAS, participating organizations included the Arcani and Kavari Chapters of Lambda Sigma Upsilon Latino Fraternity, Inc.; the Kennesaw State University Collective of Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.; and the Beta Epsilon Chapter of La Unidad Latina, Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity, Inc.; and

WHEREAS, during the trip, volunteers engaged in hands-on service activities designed to address educational, social, and community needs including academic support and mentoring for youth, leading educational and recreational activities, beautification and facility improvement projects, and organizing structured programming focused on leadership, confidence-building, and positive youth development; and

WHEREAS, beyond direct service, volunteers worked closely with Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico staff to foster meaningful connections with the children and families served, reinforcing a sense of stability, encouragement, and community during a critical period when many public resources are limited; and

WHEREAS, funds raised through the initiative directly support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico's mission to provide safe spaces, educational enrichment, nutritious meals, and wraparound services for thousands of children and teens across Puerto Rico; and

WHEREAS, this service trip exemplifies the power of civic engagement, volunteerism, and cross-state collaboration in strengthening communities, expanding opportunity, and investing in the long-term success of Puerto Rico’s youth.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend the Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico as well as its volunteers, staff, and partner organizations. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico.
