WHEREAS, there are 95 general aviation airports in the State of Georgia that are essential

## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A Georgia House resolution recognizes February 25, 2026 as Georgia Airports Association Day, honoring the state's network of public airports and the association that supports them.

### Plain-language summary

This is a ceremonial resolution from the Georgia House of Representatives rather than a change to state law. It recognizes February 25, 2026 as Georgia Airports Association Day, citing the economic role of the state's 103 publicly owned airports, including 95 general aviation airports and 8 with commercial airline service.
The resolution notes these airports generate a combined $73.7 billion in annual economic activity and support more than 450,000 jobs and $20.2 billion in payroll. It also credits the Georgia Airports Association, founded in 1990, with providing training, networking, and industry information to its member airports. The resolution directs the Clerk of the House to send a copy to the Georgia Airports Association.

### What it does

- Formally designates February 25, 2026 as Georgia Airports Association Day in a House resolution.
- States findings about the economic impact of Georgia's 103 publicly owned airports, including jobs and payroll figures.
- Directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to prepare and distribute a copy of the resolution to the Georgia Airports Association.
- Creates no new legal requirements, funding, or penalties; it is a symbolic honor rather than a change to Georgia law.

### Who it affects

The resolution directly names the Georgia Airports Association and its member airports across the state. It also references businesses in technology, manufacturing, distribution, tourism, and agriculture that use Georgia's airports, though it imposes no obligations on any of these groups.

### Why it matters

Because this is a ceremonial resolution, it does not change any law, create funding, or impose new rules. Its practical effect is limited to publicly recognizing the Georgia Airports Association and the economic role of the state's airport system for one day.

### Key provisions

- The resolution's whereas clauses state that Georgia has 103 publicly owned airports, 95 for general aviation and 8 with commercial service.
- It cites $73.7 billion in annual economic activity and more than 450,000 jobs tied to these airports, representing $20.2 billion in payroll.
- The resolved clause designates February 25, 2026 as Georgia Airports Association Day.
- A further resolved clause directs the Clerk of the House to distribute a copy of the resolution to the Georgia Airports Association.
