A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending the contributions of Asian Americans Advancing Justice - Atlanta, Asian American Advocacy Fund, Asian American Voices for Education, Georgia AAPI Hub, Raksha, and We Love Buford Highway on Asian American Advocacy Day; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Asian Americans Advancing Justice - Atlanta, Asian American Advocacy Fund, Asian American Voices for Education, Georgia AAPI Hub, Raksha, and We Love Buford Highway collectively serve diverse needs of Asian American and Pacific Islander
(AAPI) as well as Arab, Middle Eastern, Muslim, and South Asian (AMEMSA) communities in Georgia, including teachers, schools, parents, students, and survivors of violence; and
WHEREAS, these organizations work to amplify community voices and to build and promote a politically and civically conscious and engaged Asian American community in Georgia; and
WHEREAS, these organizations have worked to strengthen the non-profit ecosystem in Georgia and their work enhances the social, cultural, political, and economic well-being of AAPI communities across Georgia; and
WHEREAS, these organizations have worked to advance the economic stability and dignity of AAPI and AMEMSA communities, including representing, organizing, and preserving multicultural small businesses in Georgia; and
WHEREAS, these organizations provide culturally sensitive and linguistically appropriate services to AAPI and AMEMSA communications in multiple languages, spanning voter education, legal services, advocacy, counseling, supportive services, mutual aid, and a plethora of other direct services; and
WHEREAS, these organizations work in multiracial partnerships across public, private, and community sectors to respond to community needs and strengthen community resilience; and
WHEREAS, these organizations have empowered the next generation of leaders by investing in teacher leadership and youth leadership the arts, and storytelling; and
WHEREAS, these organizations increase visibility of current and past contributions of AAPI and AMEMSA communities; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding efforts and service of these exemplary organizations be appropriately recognized.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend the contributions of Asian Americans Advancing Justice - Atlanta, Asian American Advocacy Fund, Asian American Voices for Education, Georgia AAPI Hub, Raksha, and We Love Buford Highway on Asian American Advocacy Day.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Asian Americans Advancing Justice - Atlanta, Asian American Advocacy Fund, Asian American Voices for Education, Georgia AAPI Hub, Raksha, and We Love Buford Highway.
