A RESOLUTION
Honoring the life of Mr. Jerry Hoy and dedicating a road in his memory; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Mr. Jerry Hoy has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Hoy was one of the founding leaders of the Castleberry Hill Neighborhood Association in Atlanta, Georgia, and was a central figure in the neighborhood's early revitalization; and
WHEREAS, he played a key role in the development of the Castleberry Hill master plan, hosting planning sessions and helping to shape the zoning, design guidelines, and community vision that laid the foundation for the modern Castleberry Hill Historic District; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Hoy's leadership was pivotal during the neighborhood's transition from decades of industrial decline into the vibrant residential and arts community it is today; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkable and distinguished American be recognized appropriately by dedicating a road in his memory.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ENACTED BY THE GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that the portion of State Route 14 from State Route 3 to Haynes Street SW in Fulton County is dedicated as the Jerry Hoy Memorial Highway. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation is authorized and directed to erect and maintain appropriate signs dedicating the Jerry Hoy Memorial Highway. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the family of Mr. Jerry Hoy and to the Department of Transportation.
