A RESOLUTION

Congratulating the National African American Gun Association upon its 10th anniversary; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the National African American Gun Association was founded in 2015 by Philip Smith, who established its first chapter, the Bass Reeves Gun Club, in metro Atlanta; and

WHEREAS, this exemplary nonprofit organization will celebrate its 10th anniversary on February 28, 2025, honoring a decade of dedicated advocacy, education, and community engagement in defense of the rights and responsibilities of African American firearm owners; and

WHEREAS, since its founding, the National African American Gun Association has grown to over 120 chapters in more than 40 states, welcoming individuals from diverse religious, political, social, cultural, and racial backgrounds while serving as a hub for African American firearm owners, organizations, and gun clubs; and

WHEREAS, the organization advocates for the Second Amendment, educates on the historical significance of firearm ownership within the African American community, and provides youth education, safety training, best practices, social advocacy, and cultural inspiration; and

WHEREAS, the National African American Gun Association further advocates for the legal rights of African Americans to protect their homes, families, and property from all forms of crime or domestic terrorism via firearm ownership; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkable organization be appropriately honored during this special time.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body congratulate the National African American Gun Association upon the grand occasion of its 10th anniversary as well as extend best wishes for continued success.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the National African American Gun Association.
