A RESOLUTION
Congratulating Howard "Sonny" Turner upon his induction into the Georgia Association of
Conservation Districts' Hall of Fame; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Howard "Sonny" Turner has long been recognized by his peers and colleagues
as an individual who has made extraordinary contributions to soil and water conservation in
the state; and
WHEREAS, his upbringing on a dairy farm inspired a deep, lifelong commitment to
Georgia's conservation efforts, beginning with his attendance at the state's first ever Natural
Resources Conservation Workshop in 1962 and his graduation from the University of
Georgia in agricultural education; and
WHEREAS, he has served as the district supervisor representing Walton County's
Conservation District for 14 years, serves as vice president on the Georgia Association of
Conservation Districts' board, and was awarded Supervisor of the Year in 2023 for
outstanding leadership throughout his region; and
WHEREAS, Howard "Sonny" Turner has further dedicated innumerable hours of his time
and energy to educating youth through volunteering for the local 4-H program and serving
in leadership roles for several civic and educational organizations; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkable individual be
appropriately recognized.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
the members of this body congratulate Howard "Sonny" Turner upon his induction into the
Georgia Association of Conservation Districts' Hall of Fame as well as extend sincere best
wishes for future health, happiness, and success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to
Howard "Sonny" Turner.
