## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A House resolution would dedicate a bridge on State Route 15 By-Pass over State Route 16 in Hancock County as the Raymond C. McGhee, Jr. Memorial Bridge, honoring his decades of service.

### Plain-language summary

This resolution from the Georgia House of Representatives honors Raymond Crawford McGhee, Jr., a Hancock County resident who worked as a farmer, spent years at the Sparta Furniture Factory, and served 37 years as a foreman with the Georgia Department of Transportation. It also notes his lifelong membership at New Hope Powelton Baptist Church.
The resolution's operative effect is to officially name the bridge on State Route 15 By-Pass where it crosses State Route 16 in Hancock County as the Raymond C. McGhee, Jr. Memorial Bridge. It directs the Department of Transportation to put up and maintain signs marking the dedication, and it directs the Clerk of the House to send copies of the resolution to McGhee's family and to the Department of Transportation.

### What it does

- Officially names the bridge on State Route 15 By-Pass over State Route 16 in Hancock County the Raymond C. McGhee, Jr. Memorial Bridge.
- Directs the Georgia Department of Transportation to erect and maintain signs marking the bridge's new name.
- Directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to send copies of the resolution to McGhee's family and to the Department of Transportation.

### Who it affects

This mainly affects the Georgia Department of Transportation, which must install and maintain the memorial signage, and the family of Raymond Crawford McGhee, Jr. It also affects residents and travelers in Hancock County who use the State Route 15 By-Pass bridge over State Route 16.

### Why it matters

The resolution is a symbolic honor rather than a policy change: it creates a lasting public tribute to a longtime Georgia Department of Transportation foreman and Hancock County community member, and requires the state to post signage marking the bridge's new name.

### Key provisions
